Dear Friends and Colleagues,

It is indeed our honour to welcome you to the 11th Asian Pacific Congress of Nephrology (APCN) to be held from 5th - 8th May 2008 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

The Organising Committee has put together an excellent and all rounded scientific programme that incorporates a range of subjects dealing with the various facets of nephrology. Rich and relevant information will be presented, dissected and discussed for the benefit of practitioners and researchers in nephrology. We are pleased to inform you that speakers who are the very best in their field have agreed to share their expertise and knowledge with our delegates at this Congress.

In addition to plenaries, lectures, symposia, and free papers, there will also be Continuing Education sessions to cater to the needs of the other professionals involved in the care of patients with kidney disease. We are also pleased to announce that the 14th Asian Colloquium in Nephrology postgraduate course will be held the day before the main congress. Another important pre-congress workshop is the Asian Forum of CKD Initiative 2008. This is a follow up to the first Asian Forum of CKD Initiative that was organized by the Japanese Society of Nephrology in 2007.

We encourage you to join us and take advantage of the many sessions that will be presented by a carefully selected international pool of experts, as well as enjoy the social programme we have planned for you.

Last but not least, we hope that you will take this opportunity to see the best of Malaysia, a shining jewel in Southeast Asia. This colourful country has a lot to offer to visitors. Here you can find pristine beaches and coastlines, lush tropical forests, breathtaking natural wonders, historical treasures and wonderful shopping in the exciting city of Kuala Lumpur. You will definitely enjoy the warmth and hospitality of the harmonious, multi-cultural and multi-ethnic Malaysians.

We look forward to welcoming you to Kuala Lumpur.
